Amazon Shopping functions as a smartphone owner's portal into the popular retailer. The app is essentially a mobile-optimized version of the Amazon website with added features. For Prime members, the Amazon mobile app should be considered a mandatory download. Even non-Prime members that place frequent orders will benefit from the app. It's available free for download right now and is compatible with all Android smartphones and tablets.
Browse Over A Million Products With Ease
Users are greeted with product recommendations and recent browsing history upon launching Amazon Shopping. From there, they can browse through the retailer's entire product lineup, which is more than one million items deep. A simple search bar adorns the top of every page in the app, and advanced search features are available, too. Voice search is a useful feature included in the app, but the feature can stutter from time to time.
Learn About Products From Previous Buyers
On each product page, users will encounter all the information they need to make an informed buying decision. Product pages include a detailed description of each product as well as technical specifications, if applicable. Most listings include multiple photos of a product and even an explainer video. Also, Amazon provides rankings for each product, showing how popular an item is among all Amazon buyers in a given category.
Reviews from past buyers are available with each listing and are vital for potential buyers. Amazon gives Verified Purchasers their own badge to indicate they actually bought a product. Without a doubt, Verified Purchaser reviews hold more weight than a random review, as fake reviews are quite common. Reviews can contain images and videos of the product, but user-submitted videos don't show up in the mobile app for some reason.
Manage An Amazon Account or Prime Membership
Amazon users can manage every facet of their accounts through the Amazon Shopping app. In fact, Prime members can even manage their memberships and make changes when necessary. The app gives each user full control of his or her account on the go. Users can create an account, modify an existing one, and contact Amazon support within moments.
Nitpicking The Downsides
For most users, Amazon Shopping will come with very few downsides. User-submitted videos don't show up in the review section, and Voice Search doesn't always work in seconds. The app itself runs well and doesn't force close more often than any other Android app. With that in mind, Amazon Shopping is an excellent app for Prime and non-Prime users alike. Users are given full access to Amazon's product catalog and their Amazon accounts.
